** Support Local Gems on Friday, April 24th
------------------------------------------------------------

https://commerce.idaho.gov/support-local-gems/
Idaho small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities and the backbone of our state’s economy. However, the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak has forced widespread closures of small businesses across the Gem State, threatening livelihoods, acute job losses, and imperiling the future of local establishments across our state.

That’s why Idaho Commerce and Visit Idaho have partnered with Senator Jim Risch to participate in the “Support Local Gems” (https://commerce.idaho.gov/support-local-gems/) initiative. On Friday, April 24th, Idaho Commerce and Visit Idaho invites all Idahoans to find ways to support the small businesses in your community whose operations have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. April 24th will serve as an all-day celebration of the local businesses that make our communities thrive.

You can participate by shopping at your favorite small businesses online, purchasing gift cards for future use (or for a loved one), ordering take-out or delivery from local restaurants, writing a review online, posting on social media about your favorite local business, or simply saying thank you to the businesses you frequent most often in your daily life. The outbreak has put many in difficult financial situations, but there are many ways to show your support.

Following the event and starting April 27th, Idaho Commerce and Visit Idaho will continue to promote awareness of the Support Local Gems program by sharing resources as well as the stories of Idaho communities, citizens, and small businesses on visitidaho.org (https://visitidaho.org/) and across our social media channels.

There is no question that COVID-19 has had a significant disrupting effect on all our lives. Now more than ever, it’s important to support the small businesses in the Gem State that provide local jobs, services, and unquantifiable community value. If your financial situation allows, we hope you’ll join us and Support Local Gems on Friday, April 24th. Your support can make all the difference in a small business’ future.

https://savesmallbusiness.com/

Small businesses are the foundation of our communities and our economy. Employing nearly half the American workforce, they keep our neighborhoods running and make them feel like home. ** IDAHO REBOUNDS: OUR PATH TO PROSPERITY
------------------------------------------------------------

Governor Brad Little, with the help of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and guidance issued by President Donald Trump and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has established a data-driven approach to opening up Idaho’s economy.

The approach reduces the risk of COVID-19 to Idaho’s most vulnerable population and preserves capacity in our healthcare system, while opening up businesses safely. From an economic standpoint, Idaho’s rebound from COVID-19 starts with employee and consumer confidence, which leads into business stability and growth and eventually promotion and attraction. ** New Federal Coronavirus Relief Coming Soon
------------------------------------------------------------

With both the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Impact Disaster Loans (EIDL) program out of funds, a deal is being worked on this week to replenish the programs and provide additional funding for hospitals and coronavirus testing. The U.S. Senate passed a measure late Tuesday afternoon and the U.S. House is expected to take up a measure today.

The proposed $481 billion agreement is intended to be narrow and specifically address PPP and EIDL funding shortfalls, specifically an additional $321 billion for the PPP and $60 billion for the EIDL program. More information to come as the bill's details are finalized.

If your business did not receive PPP funding from the CARES Act, we recommend you stay actively engaged with your lending institution to ensure readiness when new legislation is finalized and new funds are made available.
