To whom it may concern:

My name is Katlyn Alo Alapati. I am a reporter with The Peninsula Press, a multimedia news website based out of Stanford University in California. I am reporting a piece that requires data from the Honolulu Police Department.

I am requesting, under Hawaii Uniform Information Practices Act, the Honolulu Police Department dispatch data for 9-1-1 calls made for incidents at the Brigham Young University Hawaii campus. The addresses for these calls should include, but not be limited to, the following:
-55-550 Naniloa Loop, Laie, HI 96762
-55-220 Kulanui St, Laie, HI 96762

I would like data for all of 1995 and 2017. I can accept data for each year in different datasets. The data should include, but is not limited to, the following:
-Incident description/type
-Dispatch data and time
-Reporting officer

I am not requesting identifying information or related police reports, just the data on dispatch calls.

This information will be used for editorial purposes and is not being made for commercial purposes. As such, I also respectfully request a waiver of any fee. If there are fees associated with this request, kindly inform me of the amount before fulfilling the request.

I am requesting the electronic files for this data and can accept them in most generally accepted file formats, including database formats.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

I also am happy to talk in person about this request at any time. I can be reached at (720) 519-8890 or by email at katlyn@stanford.edu.
