Pursuant to Hawaii's Uniform Information Practices Code, I hereby request the following records:

- All communications between members of this office and employees or representatives of the American Legislative Exchange Council.
- All communications containing the keywords "ALEC" or "American Legislative Exchange Council".
- Any files or documents attached to the above communications.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I've received your notice that states you can't comply in full with my request because you don't maintain some of the records referenced. I'm assuming that you mean that communications are deleted according to a regular schedule. That's no problem, I should have specified a date range initially. Why don't we limit the request to the period from Jan. 2010 to the present? Let me know if that's an issue, I'm happy to work with you to ensure that this request can be processed.
