Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

· A copy of the standard curriculum currently used for sexual education throughout the school district. If there is different standard curricula for different grade levels, I would like all of those individual curricula.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Ms. Merten,

In regards to your Open Records Request below, please review the associated
estimated costs:

· 1 hr. @ $24.18 per hr. (less 15 minutes per O.C.G.A. §50-18-71 (c) (1)
to retrieve/redact information)
· 50 copies @ $.10 per copy

This amount is based upon the salary of the lowest paid, full-time employee
who has the necessary skill and training to fulfill this request. Please
be reminded this is an estimate. The actual time taken to retrieve and
redact the requested information and the number of copies requested will be
tracked, and the cost will be adjusted accordingly.

Upon your written approval of the estimated costs, we will proceed with the
retrieval and redaction process. The following information/documents will
be redacted in accordance with the codes specified below:

1. Medical records and similar files, the disclosure of which would be
an invasion of personal privacy pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-72
(a)(2).

2. Personal financial information, birth date, social security number,
home address, telephone number, reference forms, and medical
information in accordance with O.C.G.A. §50-18-72 (a) (1), (a) (7),
(20), (A) and (21).

3. Confidential evaluations and transcripts in accordance with O.C.G.A.
§50-18-72 (a) (1), (7) and O.C.G.A. §20-2-210 (a)(e)(1), and 20
U.S.C. §1232g (b) (1) and (4) (B).

4. Confidential tax matters in accordance with O.C.G.A. §50-18-72 (43).

5. Records subject to the client attorney privilege and confidential
attorney work product pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-72 (a)(41) and
(42).

6. Any record that would not be subject to disclosure, or the disclosure
of which would jeopardize the receipt of federal funds, under 20
U.S.C. §1232g or its implementing regulations pursuant to O.C.G.A.
§50-18-72 (a)(37).

7. Any records or documents that may compromise the safety of GCPS or
students served pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-72 (25) (a) (I) (II) (IV)

8. Juvenile law enforcement records pursuant to O.C.G.A. §15-11-708(b).

9. Records of student disciplinary hearings pursuant to O.C.G.A.
§20-2-757(b).

10. Juvenile court adjudication records pursuant to O.C.G.A.
§20-2-671 & O.C.G.A. §20-2-751(d)

11. Any trade secrets obtained from a person or business entity
that are required by law, regulation, bid or request for proposal to
be submitted to an agency O.C.G.A. §50-18-72(34).

12. Drug and alcohol test results pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-72
(a)(1) & 49 C.F.R. §40.321.

13. No public officer or agency shall be required to prepare new
reports, summaries, or compilations not in existence at the time of
the request O.C.G.A. §50-18-71 (j).

14. Records of benefit selections, payroll deductions, and other
individual account information pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 45-18-53(b).

15. Confidential fingerprint and criminal background information in
accordance with O.C.G.A. §35-3-34.2(k) and O.C.G.A. §35-3-38(a).

16. Investigatory materials that are evidence of an alleged
violation of Part 2 of Article 3 of Chapter 12 of Title 16 and are in
the possession, custody, or control of law enforcement, prosecution,
or regulatory agencies pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-72(32).

17. Records concerning reports of child abuse pursuant to O.C.G.A.
§19-7-5(i) and O.C.G.A. §49-5-40(b)

Upon receipt of your written approval of the cost estimate, the redacted
copies will be available for you to pick up within three business days.

Gwinnett County Public Schools uses Choosing the Best Way Curriculum. We
can only provide you copies of front/back covers, as well as copies of each
Leader Guide for the curriculum materials used; therefore, as these
materials are copyrighted your request cannot be fulfilled in it's entirety
(17 U.S.C.A. 106(1)).

Please review the estimate sent in my email dated 12/12/2018 and let me
know if you approve and would like me to proceed with your request.
