Pursuant to the South Carolina Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

All documents relating to usage of Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology by Greer Police Department, including but not limited to documents indicating:

-scope of ALPR deployment;
-purposes for which ALPR technology is employed;
-means of handling and storing ALPR data;
-extent and timeline for ALPR data storage; and
-protocols and extent of ALPR data sharing between GPD and other government agencies.

Please include any relevant documents, including but not limited to memos, reports, emails, meeting minutes and contracts.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 15 business days, as the statute requires.

Good morning Mr. Meller,

In response to your FOIA regarding ALPR usage by the Greer Police Department-

• Greer PD’s ALPR abilities are limited to only one Flock Safety Camera.
• ALPR data obtained by Greer PD is maintained specifically with Flock Safety, and not stored on departmental hardware or software.
• Greer PD has designated user sign-on for employees allowed to view the information within the FLOCK system.
• ALPR information is available to Greer PD web based users for a two month time span.
• Greer PD only shares information with 21 other law enforcement agencies, located in the Southeastern United States, at this time.
