To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

A copy of all complaints issued by voters and constituents about voting in the November 2018 midterm and gubernatorial elections. I'm specifically referencing the long lines and delays that resulted from a lack of voting machines at certain polling locations, and the lack of preparedness for the high turnout experienced: https://thehill.com/homenews/news/415692-hundreds-of-voting-machines-sat-unused-in-georgia-as-voters-waited-on-long

I am also requesting a copy of all internal communications regarding issues at polling locations sent during the month of November, 2018. Some keywords that might assist in your search are "voting machines," "delays," "voter registration," and "security breaches," but I am not limiting my request to a search for these keywords.

In addition, I would like a copy of the call log from election day 2018 to the office of registration and elections.

I request that I be properly classified as a news media requester. I am an intern for MuckRock, and I am requesting this information in that editorial capacity. MuckRock is widely known for its investigative work as well as historical pieces based on public records requests.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Liam Knox

To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to follow up on the following Georgia Open Records Act request, copied below, and originally submitted on Feb. 21, 2019. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response.

Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.

Liam,

My name is Andrew Cauthen with DeKalb County's Communications Department. I will be facilitating your Open Records request.

I will provide the cost for the fulfillment of your request within the next three business days.

However, I would like clarification on your request for "a copy of the call log from election day 2018 to the office of registration and elections."

Are you looking for a log of all calls received with the reason for the call, etc.? Is that what you mean by a call log? Or are you looking for an IT-generated list of phone numbers of calls received?

Regards,

---

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for clarifying! I am looking for a log of calls received with a summary of the call/reason for the call, not a list of phone numbers.

Best,

Liam
