Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:

All policies, procedures, memorandums of agreements, other memos, directives, communications, occurrence reports, and any other relevant materials regarding the reporting, negotiations, control, aftermath, and general treatment of hostages taken or individuals restrained in a hostage-like manner by individuals detained or under the supervision of facilities maintained under the jurisdiction of this agency, including juvenile, local, and private facilities, if applicable. If additional policies are maintained by other agencies, direction indicating such would be greatly appreciated.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

The following Department procedures are exempt from Ch. 119 public records disclosure pursuant to s. 119.071(3)(a) and s. 119.071(2)(d), Florida Statutes:

602.003 – Use of Force Devices, Agents, and Munitions
602.012 – Emergency Action Center
602.022 – Special Operations Teams, this procedure is confidential and exempt from Ch. 119 public records disclosure pursuant to sections 119.071(3)(a), 119.071(2)(d), and 281.301, Florida Statutes

Procedure 602.009 – Emergency Preparedness is restricted and will require redaction prior to release. Please let us know if you are interested in obtaining a copy and you will be provided with a cost estimate for production.
