To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:
All electronic records of Mavis Knight (firstname.lastname@example.org) containing any of the following keywords:
- Florida Power & Light
- Florida Power and Light
The request should include emails (both sent and received), email attachments, text messages, encrypted messages, messaging apps (such as Slack, Trello or Asana), and any other electronic records.
The timeframe of this public records request is between January 1, 2017 and the date of this filing.
You may exclude news articles, press clippings, and duplicate emails.
The organization I work for, the Energy and Policy Institute (EPI), is a clearinghouse of information and can qualify as a representative of the news media. There are several examples of public record requests provided to EPI that were published on our website to inform journalists publishing articles. Additionally, federal agencies have previously categorized FOIAs from the Energy and Policy Institute under Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 1004.9(b)(3) as a "news media" requester and have determined that we satisfy the criteria considered for a waiver of fees.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.
Dear Mr. Tait:
The House does not maintain any records that are responsive to your request. Please be advised that Ms. Knight is an employee of the Office of Legislative Services (OLS), not the House. You may submit your request to OLS by emailing Karen.Chandler@leg.state.fl.us<mailto:Karen.Chandler@leg.state.fl.us>.
Office of Open Government
Florida House of Representatives
As previously mentioned, this office cannot process the request below because the House does not possess the records. Please contact Karen Chandler at the Office of Legislative Services using the email address in our December 13 email.
Thanks! I actually just tried to file this request with that email for Karen Chandler but it was rejected saying the email account was not valid? Is there an alternate contact?
So sorry! I didn’t realize that her last name went first. The correct address is email@example.com<mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org>. If that doesn’t work for you, please let me know.
Excellent! That seems to have gone through.
