From: Sam Biddle

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:

I am seeking every email sent and received from Gov. Jeb Bush's official, state provided email account, for the duration of his term as governor of Florida. I am specifically seeking records from his official email account, not his personal account (jeb@jeb.org). Gov. Bush has indicated a desire to release all of his email correspondence from his administration “in the spirit of transparency" so that citizens could "make up [their] own mind[s]” about his tenure; this announcement should be taken as a waiver of his privacy interests under Florida's sunshine laws/the FOIA.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

Sincerely,

Sam Biddle

Dear Sam:

Previously you requested some or all of the State Archives of Florida's Governor Jeb Bush email collection along with records that may be contained in those emails. I am pleased to share with you that the Florida Department of State has completed its review of the Year 1999 series of those emails (for both jeb@jeb.org<mailto:jeb@jeb.org> and jeb@myflorida.com<mailto:jeb@myflorida.com>).

Please confirm if you would like to receive Year 1999 on a flash drive provided by the Department. The flash drive allows you the capability to search within the files by keywords and phrases (additional instructions will be provided). You also have the option of visiting the Archives in person and reviewing the available records on a computer in the public research room.

If you would like to receive Year 1999 by mail, please provide the address where you would like flash drive sent. I will continue to notify you as additional years become available.

Due to the unprecedented wait time to fulfill your request, which occurred as a result of the necessary review process, we are waiving the fee for the cost of the flash drive.

We appreciate your interest in our collections and are grateful for your patience and understanding as we actively continue the review process and protect any possible confidential and exempt information contained within this expansive collection.

Sincerely,
Meredith Beatrice

Hi Meredith,

Could you please clarify whether you mean that the records were recently sent in the mail? It doesn't appear that we've received them.

Thanks so much,
Beryl, MuckRock

From: Beatrice, Meredith M.

Hello Beryl,

Years 2000 and 2001 from the Governor Jeb Bush email collection were sent by mail to Sam Biddle in December 2015. The first attempt to send the records was returned, and on December 31, 2015 we sent them again to a different address at Mr. Biddle’s request (see attached email chain).

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Hi Beryl,

I just noticed a typo in the email I sent to you. Years 1999 and 2000 were sent to Mr. Biddle in December 2015.
Thanks,
Meredith
