Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:
Copies of the State of Florida salary data published on the "Florida Has a Right to Know" website (https://salaries.myflorida.com/) for each month from January 2010 through December 2018.
For each month, I’m seeking a spreadsheet, database, or delimited text file(s) — not paper records or a PDF created from data — with the following fields for every employee who worked in the Florida Executive Branch: Agency, Budget Entity, Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial, Salaried/Hourly, Full/Part Time, Title, Hire Date, Annual Salary (or hourly rate). If possible, please also include each employee's race/ethnicity and gender. If these latter two variables are unavailable, please exclude them and proceed with the other variables outlined above.
Please include any lookup tables that may be needed to interpret the data. For example, if departments are listed with codes linked to a separate table, I will be happy to join the records myself, rather than require your staff to do so.
I am comfortable working with large data sets and can receive the records in a variety of formats (.dbf, .csv, .mdb, etc).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Debbie,
I hope your week is going well. I am reaching out with a couple of specific questions about the Florida payroll data that I received a few months ago. Would you be able to either answer them or put me in touch with someone who could help? The questions are as follows:
1) Is it possible to identify the service categorization of an individual employee based on these data? I see the emp_type variable identifies whether someone is salaried or in Other Personnel Services (OPS), but is it possible to also tell based on these data whether someone is in one of the other three categories listed here (Career Service, Senior Management Service, and Selected Exempt Service): https://www.dms.myflorida.com/workforce_operations/human_resource_management/for_state_personnel_system_employees.
Perhaps those classifications can be inferred based on class codes or pay plans?
2) A number of the pay plan / class code combinations in the data are not listed in the class code crosswalk I received. Would it be possible to get an updated crosswalk that includes descriptions of these variables? I am attaching the combinations that were in the data but not included in the crosswalk

I hope you had a nice weekend. I apologize for the follow up email, but, in addition to the questions above, I have discovered what appears to be an error in the data I originally received from this request.
In the file covering January 2016 to December 2018, the dates in the final worksheet (July 2018 - Dec 2018) appear to be incorrect. The data in this sheet appear to be a copy of the data in the sheet covering July 2017 to Dec 2017. Could you please send me an updated file that includes the data for the period from July 2018 to December 2018?
