Hello,

I am copying the response I received for this request (15-FOIA-098) below. It appears that at least some of the information I requested is compiled for annual reports posted to the Fairfax County Website.

On page 17 of the 2012-2013 FCPD Annual Report at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/inside-fcpd/pdf/fcpd201213ar.pdf lists 22 checkpoints in 2012 and 28 checkpoints in 2013 with # of vehicles searched and DWI arrests for each year. When the annual report was generated, were statistics also compiled for the total number of other arrests/citations or other checkpoint information? Is there any other report or document that contains compiled checkpoint data for a given period (versus individual checkpoint plans)?

Thank you,
Yani Yancey

I have submitted your inquiry to our Chief Crime Analyst for review. I know that every Sobriety Checkpoint requires that an entire operations plan be generated, which is where data for the mentioned year end reports could be pulled from. In regards to Safety Checkpoints, they do not require an operations plan and there are an enormous number of them conducted throughout the county every year by both traffic safety units and patrol units . I will advise upon receipt of a response from our Crime Analyst.

Records pertaining to motorists checkpoints (DWI, safety, compliance or other purpose) conducted between
January 1, 2010 and March 3, 2015, including the number and type of checkpoints, the date, time, and location
of each checkpoint, number of personnel involved at each checkpoint, number and type of citations issued and
