Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

All correspondence received by the district's superintendent from the Governor's Office or School Board members mentioning "mask" or "masks" or "mandate" or "choice" between January 1, 2022 and the time this request is processed.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Thank you for submitting your Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) request, which was received by Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) on February 9, 2022. Please see attached for reference.
In your request you seek:
"All correspondence received by the district's superintendent from the Governor's Office or School Board members mentioning "mask" or "masks" or "mandate" or "choice" between January 1, 2022 and the time this request is processed."
FCPS conducted a preliminary search for records responsive to our request. That search yielded 82 documents, which total 506 pages in length. Once those records are collected each record must be reviewed for exempt information. Va. Code 2.2-3704(F) allows FCPS to "make reasonable charges not to exceed its actual cost incurred in accessing, duplicating, supplying, or searching for the requested records." FCPS estimates that it will require 5 hours of staff time to search for, access, duplicate and supply you with responsive records. The estimated costs to respond to your request under VFOIA are $175.00.
