Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Compensation data for all employees of the Fairfax County Police Department for the most recent year in which complete data are available (preferably 2020).
Specifically, I request that these data include, for each employee: Name, Job Title, Earnings (required), and age, gender, ethnicity, and hire date (if available).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

On May 12, 2021 (at 8:38 PM) you submitted a FOIA request for "Compensation data for all employees of the Fairfax County Police Department for the most recent year in which complete data are available (preferably 2020). Specifically, I request that this data include, for each employee: Name, Job Title, Earnings (required), and age, gender, ethnicity, and hire date (if applicable)".
Attached you will find the most recent standard salary report for all merit county employees that is provided to the newspapers/media and published publicly several times a year. You can filter the worksheet to exclude all records that do not meet your request criteria.
Please note, this report:
1. Excludes Economic Development Authority
2. Excludes State Employees
3. Includes Merit only, i.e. excludes Employee Groups E and G (former Status B and T)
4. Includes Pay Plans C, E, F, L, O, P, S, X
5. Excludes those with Annual Salary less than $10,000
6. Includes Active Employees as of the date of this response.
7. Also, for consistency, the 40/56 hour designation in the pay system for some public safety job titles was removed; e.g., "ASST FIRE CHIEF 40 42" was changed to "ASST FIRE CHIEF".
We do not provide employee's "age, gender, ethnicity, and hire date" as we consider this data "personnel" information, exempt from mandatory disclosure pursuant to Va. Code Ann . § 2.2-3075.1(1).
