Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Police reports and records documenting individual incidents of bears entering residences and businesses within your respective jurisdiction in the Lake Tahoe basin, for each year from 2010 through 2021. This includes both soft entry (ie, the bear entering either through an unlocked door or window) and forced entry (ie, the bear breaks a locked door or window to enter the structure).

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

We have received your request regarding police reports and records documenting individual incidents of bears entering residences and businesses within our jurisdiction for the years 2010 - 2021.
After a search of our records, I have determined we have over 400 pages of Calls for Service reports that meet the criteria. Not all of the information is releasable and the records will have to be redacted.
Due to our current staffing and the amount of time it will take to prepare the reports, I estimate your records will be ready for release on or before February 28, 2022.
