Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:

I am seeking any information in regards to departmental policy in regards to officer identification in regards to interactions with the public furthermore, any policy in which the officer must state their name and badge identification number by the general public. In Addition, we are seeking any department policy in regards to the body-worn camera, Bodycam (BWC) or any recording device which may record audio or video when interacting with the public.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mr. Lassiter,

This is in response to your FOIL request received on February 18, 2022 and described in the above subject line and contained in this email thread. Please find below the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office policy on officer identification and interactions with the public, etc., .

7.8 Official Identification

A. Members on duty must identify themselves by rank, last name, and shield number
to any member of the public who requests identification. In addition, the member
will provide a DCSO business card that provides said identification as well as the
contact information for the Internal Affairs Bureau

B. No member or employee shall possess, carry, or display any shield, badge or
credential identifying his/her association with the Dutchess County Sheriffs
Office unless such item has been issued to such member or employee by the
Sheriff; or unless specific written permission is granted by the Sheriff.

C. Members and employees shall not permit the shield or credentials issued to them
to be photographed or reproduced without the permission of the Sheriff.

D. Lost, stolen or missing shields, credentials, or AMAG (Access) Card will be
reported immediately to the member's supervisor.

E. The immediate supervisor will then notify the Chief Deputy via memorandum by
the next business day.

In reference to body worn cameras, at the present time members of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office do not wear "body worn cameras" as the matter is still being researched. As such the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office does not yet have an official written policy. Thank you.

Dear Jordan,

This is in response to the above FOIL request received via email on March 7, 2022 and responded to on March 14, 2022, requesting information on Automated license plate readers (LPRs) that are utilized by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office;

1. Due to storage constraints, data is only stored for one year. Therefore the following information is from 4/8/21 to 4/8/22.
2. In that time period there were 2,216,183 reads.
3. There were a total of 11,958 hits.
4. 380 of those were accepted.
5. 10,788 hits were off of a TRACS list.
6. 1,170 hits were off of COMPLUS SCOFFLAW list.
7. We do not keep records at to whether a hit resulted in a vehicle stop or the results of that stop.
