From: David A. Goldberg
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I request a complete copy of Detroit Police Department, Homicide Bureau case file No. 6360. This is the homicide file of Cynthia Scott Broady, 24/North of Edmund Place, Apartment 202, who was shot three times by Officer Theodore Spicher (Badge # 1729) of the DPD on July 5, 1963. On July 10, 1963, the Homicide Bureau's commanding officer received an Inter-office memo which lists eye witness accounts of the shooting. The I.B. number, badge number, and Homicide number are all located on this document, which I am in possession of.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
David A. Goldberg

I am the attorney handling this file. Per the FOIA statute, we have mailed a response letter to you within 5 days. You should be receiving it shortly. I have received the requested records from DPD, and should get a deposit letter to you in the mail today for half of the estimated labor costs for reviewing and redacting the records.
