To Whom It May Concern:

Please consider the following a request pursuant to the Colorado Open Records Act and the
Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act.

If you are not the proper custodian of records for this request, please forward this request on to the appropriate designee.

Colorado law requires a criminal justice agency to provide all records related to official actions when requested. “Official Action” records include all records of any arrests, indictments, releases from custody, parole decisions, sentencing decisions, and dispositions of cases.

I am requesting all official actions records (including all records of any arrests, indictments, releases from custody, parole decisions, sentencing decisions, and dispositions of cases) related to the July 20 protest outside the Colorado Chiefs of Police Conference at Auraria campus.

If you deny this request for records in whole or in part, I ask that you provide a written statement explaining the reason for the denial that cites the legal authority that is the basis for the denial. If any of the requested records are in active use, in storage or otherwise unavailable at this time, I likewise request that you provide a statement informing me of the reason they are currently unavailable and a date and hour at which time the records will be available for inspection.

I kindly ask that the custodian handle this request as a separate matter from other requests I have made or will make, and that any information about the availability of records or fees to produce records related to this request be conveyed in a manner specific to this request, and not combined with information from other requests I have made or will make.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Christopher Schiano
