From: Desoto County Sheriff's Office, Desoto

Good morning:

Recently you made a public records request regarding C. Quin Bass relating to a 1893 escape and the possibility that he may have been killed by Edgar Watson.
Please note that we do not possess a responsive record on this request. I spoke with a local history enthusiast who recalled that there have been several publications on this topic. He also recalled that E. Watson was said to have killed Bass with a knife but claimed self-defense.
As a suggestion, you may reach out to the Clerk of the Court for DeSoto County. If a grand jury was convened or an inquiry was done, they may have a record.

Sincerely,
Colonel James Vitali
