Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act., I hereby request the following records:

Please provide the source code for the system or systems used to calculate tax extensions.

This requests follows up on an April 9, 2018 e-mail exchange with Kevin McDermott, Tatia Gibbons Laforme, and Mirella Villafuerte of the Clerk's office.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

On May 10, 2018, you submitted a FOIA request to the Cook County Clerk requesting "the source code for the system or systems used to calculate tax extensions."

The Clerk does not have source code that was written by the Bureau of Technology to perform tasks required by the Clerk in calculating tax rates. Any such code is held by the County's Bureau of Technology. Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act we are unable to produce responsive documents to your request.

After previous emails seeking this information, we reached out to the Bureau but had not received a definitive response.
