To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:

All contracts (and their amendments) and memorandums of understanding entered into by Citrus County, Florida for services and activities related to the Citrus County Detention Facility (https://www.cca.com/facilities/citrus-county-detention-facility)

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

Sincerely,

Beryl C.D. Lipton

Hello,

I sent two very similar requests to your office. Both are in regards to the Citrus County Detention Facility, though one requests contracts/MOUs from Lecanto, FL and this one requests those records from Citrus County.

• All contracts (and their amendments) and memorandums of understanding entered into by Lecanto, Florida for services and activities related to the Citrus County Detention Facility (https://www.cca.com/facilities/citrus-county-detention-facility)

• All contracts (and their amendments) and memorandums of understanding entered into by Citrus County, Florida for services and activities related to the Citrus County Detention Facility (https://www.cca.com/facilities/citrus-county-detention-facility)

Should I send one of these requests to a different agency?

Thank you for your help!
Beryl

From: Tobey H. Phillips

Lecanto is not an incorporated city so “Lecanto” would not have any contracts/MOUs with CCA. I hope this explanation helps!

Hi,

Can you clarify who would handle building permits and other matters that would typically be handled by an incorporated city?

Thank you!

The Citrus County Building Division has no contracts, memorandums of understanding, or agreements for services and activities related to the Citrus County Detention Facility. However, the Building Division has issued permits for work that is being done or has been done there in the past. If you could give me a time frame that you are interested in, I would be happy to compile a report on those permits.

Hello Mr. Jones,

Thank you for your message. I'd be interested in permits since January 1, 2000, though if this results in extensive paperwork, I could further narrow my request.

Have a wonderful day!
Beryl

Thanks Jenette for forwarding this email to me.

This request was processed, a list of permits provided for review to determine what permit records he needed and as no reply was received, the ticket was closed. I have provided email communication to both emails of record from the public record request portal and from Outlook, as well as leaving a voice message to the phone number provided and I repeatedly asked that he contact me, however, to date I have not received a call or email directly to me. Instead he sends out emails like this to Tobey, Carl and now you. I’m beginning to think this is a prank. I am logging all these emails under the ticket in the portal.
