From: James Scripps
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Nevada Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
This request should be directed to the Churchill County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Churchill County Planning and Building Departments. I am seeking the following as they pertain to the above agencies:
- A record of public records requests submitted to each agency that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the county's response for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018.
- Records of policies/procedures related to processing and approval/denial processes for public records requests used in the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. We are interested in obtaining the policies for each agency, if they have their own policies, as well as the county’s policy.
- Records of total direct revenue and expenses (i.e., no including overhead) relating to the processing of public records requests in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
James Scripps
From:
Dear Mr. Scripps,
Churchill County just recently started tracking the information that you requested. The County does not have a stand alone record containing the information requested for 2016, 2017, 2018 but we are providing you the information we have so far for 2019. Churchill County does not have a stand alone policy for responding to public records requests -- the County follows the public records laws contained in Nevada Revised Statutes. The record that is being provided shows that no demands for payment were made from the county since the time the county started tracking requests for records. The County does not track its expenses. You also requested county responses to requests. These are quite voluminous. Let us know if this is really what you want and we can arrange for the documents to be prepared. Additional time will be requested by the County to respond if this is the case.
