Persuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:

From: FOIA

Dear Mr. Nash,

The Chicago Transit Authority ("CTA") received your Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA") request yesterday. You indicate that you are following up on a request that you submitted in February 2013, but I have found no record of receiving your request before yesterday, and your e-mail does not provide the transmission information regarding your original request or any of the follow-up e-mails indicated in your e-mail of July 14, 2013. Therefore, CTA will begin processing your request. However, your request for "emails mentioning the words 'elevator', 'compliance', 'ADA', & 'Americans with Disabilities Act' between 11/1/11 and 11/1/12 from the $86 million dollar Red North Station Interim Improvements project of the Chicago Transit Authority" is very broad and is unduly burdensome to process. Pursuant to Section 3(g) of FOIA, CTA is providing you with an opportunity to confer in order to attempt to reduce your request to manageable proportions. 5 ILCS 140/3(g).

Please contact me to discuss your request further.

Sincerely,

Brigett R. Bevan

Dear Mr. Nash,

I am following up on my e-mail of July 16, 2013. As indicated in that e-mail, your request as originally stated was very broad and is unduly burdensome to process. However, pursuant to Section 3(g) of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, I provided you with an opportunity to confer with me in order to attempt to reduce your request to manageable proportions. 5 ILCS 140/3(g). I don't believe that I have received any contact from you since my e-mail. Therefore, I am again reaching out to you again to provide you with an opportunity to reduce your request to manageable proportions. Please contact me by no later than August 12, 2013 to confer regarding your request. If I do not hear from you, I will initiate steps to close your request.

Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at FOIA@transitchicago.com or by telephone at (312) 681-2809.

Sincerely,

From: Michael Morisy

Hi Brigett,,

I have limited the scope of my amended request to a single station in the Red North project, Morse Station.

I have also amended my request to ask for records related to specific provisions in Illinois law in lieu of my earlier request related to broader compliance with federal law.

I request the following records, any CTA documentation for the completed Red North Station Interim Improvements at Morse Station showing compliance with 71 Illinois Administrative Code, Ch 1, Subchapter b, Part 400 Illinois Accessibility Code.

Specifically,
1) any Statement of Compliance from any engineer/architect doing more than $50,000 worth of work at Morse Station showing "compliance with the Environmental Barriers Act [410 ILCS 25] and the Illinois Accessibility Code (71 Ill. Adm. Code 400)."
2) any records used by Chicago Transit Authority to calculate the "alteration costs" and "reproduction costs" at Morse Station as these terms relate to compliance with 71 Illinois Administrative Code, Ch 1, Subchapter b, Part 400 Illinois Accessibility Code, Subpart F, Section 400.510, b - Scope.

Thanks

Tom
