Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:

Documents (including but not limited to reports, contracts, and correspondence) between 2009 and 2014 related to a 2009 National Institute of Justice grant issued to the Chicago Police Department titled "Chicago Police Department's Predictive Policing Demonstration and Evaluation Planning Program", award number 2009-DE-BX-K223.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ingrid Burrington

Ms. Burrington,
Because this request concerns a grant from five years ago as well as a 5 year time span we are searching, I will need to request at least an additional 5 working days in order to respond. I am still in the process of gathering responsive records from the various units that this grant deals with. Once I am sure I have searched all pertinent units, those records will then need to be reviewed. Thank you for your patience and I will work as quickly as possible to get you your response.
Thank you and if you have any questions, please call us 312-745-5308.
Sincerely,

Sgt. Melinda Linas
