From: FOIA

Mr. Skelding,

I have been assigned to process your FOIA request (see below - CPD ref. 14-2247).

Could you please provide clarification as to the type of reports you are seeking. Are you seeking reports of officer-involved shooting incidents? Are you seeking reports of every incidence of gunfire in the city of Chicago that results in the generation of a case incident report? Are you seeking all reports in which a victim is shot?

In any event, in order to process the request I will need to consult with the Department's R & D unit. I will follow this email with a formal extension letter.

Thank you,

P.O. Daniel O'Brien

Mr. O'Brien,

Thank you for your timely response. I am seeking reports of office-involved shooting incidents, in which an officer discharged a firearm. Is that clear and processable?

Sincerely,
Conor Skelding

From: FOIA

Mr. Skelding,

Thank you for your response. That does clarify things and narrows the parameters for R & D to search.

As indicated in my previous email, I am attaching a formal extension letter.

Thank you again,

P.O. Daniel O'Brien

Dear Mr. O'Brien,

In response to your letter of June 11 regarding the narrowing of FOIA File No. 14-2247:

I would like to narrow my requests to only the number of original incident reports for all 46 of the incidents which you referred to. Would the request be so processable?

Thank you for your work on this.

Sincerely,
Conor Skelding

From: FOIA

Mr. Skelding,

It will still take some doing to compile and review the documents to fulfill the request as narrowed, but I believe we should be able to provide something along those lines. I will try to keep you updated with any progress.

Thank you,

P.O. Daniel O'Brien
