From: Dell Cameron

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:

All communications records (emails) between the City of Chicago Police Department and the International Association of Crime Analysts (hereafter "IACA") mailing list between the following sets of dates: Jan. 1, 2016 - Dec. 16, 2016.

I request that you include in your search all mentions of IACA. Additionally, please include — but do not limit — your search to emails received from and sent to the email address: "iacalist@iaca.net" and/or any other email address ending in "@iaca.net".

IACA is an international mailing list for the discussion of crime analysis. On its website, IACA states that "not all subscribers are members of law enforcement agencies," and law enforcement officials using the list are advised against sharing "sensitive or confidential information over the list." It must be concluded, therefore, that any information transmitted by Cary PD through the IACA mailing list has already been circulated outside of the United States and among members of the public who are not law enforcement professionals.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Dell Cameron

To Whom It May Concern:

Today I received a letter from Chicago P.D. FOIA officer Daphne Calvin concerning FOIA File No. P055443. The letter states that I should expect to receive a response regarding P055443 "on or before January 3, 2016."

Please advise what the actual response date will be. (2017?)

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Concerning: FOIA File No. P055443

A typo is contained in my request that does not alter which records specifically I am requesting. I wanted to point it out, however, in case there was any confusion.

The sentence reads: "It must be concluded, therefore, that any information transmitted by Cary PD through the IACA mailing list has already been circulated outside of the United States and among members of the public who are not law enforcement professionals."

Where it says "Cary PD" it should read "Chicago PD."

Thank you.

I was told I would receive an update regarding this FOIA request "or or before" January 3. Just checking in to see if I might receive this update today.
