To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Documents describing the current location of all files collected by the law firm Hunton & Williams related to the events of August 11 & 12, 2017, and/or any documents related to their deletion if applicable. This request is not seeking the actual documents, just any documents which show where the files are, or if they have been deleted.

In the event that the files have been deleted, please provide a copy of all relevant retention schedules with respect to the types of files deleted.

In the event that the files have been sent to the Library of Virginia for permanent storage due to their historical nature, please include any documents or forms with respect to the process of transmitting the documents to the Library for permanent storage.

The files likely would have been returned to the City of Charlottesville upon the conclusion of the work by the law firm Hunton & Williams on the report commonly referred to as the "Heaphy Report" but more specifically known as the "Charlottesville Independent Review" in the fall/winter of 2017-2018.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Please note that I am a citizen of Virginia, and am using MuckRock's services to help manage and track my request.

Sincerely,

Tom Nash
