To Whom it May Concern:

This is in response to your FOIL request concerning copies of case records (open and closed) of missing American Indians/ Alaska Native persons within Ontario County 2000-2020. The information should include: name, age, DOB, incident date, closure date, county in which reported missing.

The Sheriff's reports(both paper or electronic) are not filed according to race; only by incident number and date; therefore each individual incident report for the last 20 years would have to be pulled and reviewed. We do not have the staff or time in order to complete this request.

We ask to please narrow and revise your request.

Sincerely,

Rosemary Switzer

Thank you for replying back to our FOIL request,

We did have a few follow-up questions based on your response:
1. Is there a particular reason as to why you do not keep records based on race and/or ethnicity?
2. Is this categorization system similarly to how you file murder records?
3. Are there any discussions on filing or recording missing and murdered records based on race and/or ethnicity?

Thank you in advance for your anticipated participation in the matter.

Sincerely,

3. Are there any discussions on filing or recording missing and murdered records based on race and/or ethnicity?

1. We are a small rural community and as our operational procedures are established we do not file or keep our records according to race and or ethnicity. They are filed by incident number and date.
2. Yes, again we file by our numbering system.
3. No discussions on filing or recording missing and murdered records based on race and/ or ethnicity.

Again we ask to narrow your search.

Sincerely,

Rosemary Switzer
