Pursuant to the state Freedom of Information Act, G.L.M. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

any record of complaints from citizens about poor quality of movie projection at cambridge cinemas: Harvard Square Cinema, Landmark Kendall Square Cinema, Fresh Pond Cinema, Brattle Theatre

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

I am in receipt of the public record request you submitted to the Cambridge City Clerk's office this morning.

This office licenses entertainment in the City of Cambridge, including movie theaters. As such, we would be the agency to which complaints would be reported.

We do not waive fees for public record requests.

I estimate that the it will take ½ hour to research and segregate reports for this request. The hourly rate of the lowest paid department employee capable and available to research this matter is $25.95/hour or $12.98 for the half hour of research. If there are any reports, each report will be charged at twenty cents per page.

Please forward a check, made payable to The City of Cambridge, for $12.98 to my attention at the address below and I will begin the research. If there are any reports, I will advise you of the # and cost as well as the postage and you can forward the balance to me. Once the final payment is received, I will make the copies and forward the records to you. If you wish, you may come to our office to pick the records up to save on postage. We do not fax records.

Please be advised that the License Commission has not received any complaints about poor quality of movie projection at any licensed Cambridge movie theater, specifically, Entertainment Cinemas Fresh Pond, 168 Alewife Brook Parkway; Kendall Square Cinema, One Kendall Square; AMC Theaters, Harvard Square 5, 10 Church Street; and Brattle Film Foundation, 40 Brattle Street.

I further checked with our Consumer division to see if any complaints had been filed with them. None have been received.
