Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code ยงยง 6250), I hereby request the following records:

Copies of all emails exchanged between Uber Technologies Inc. and California Department of Transportation staff related to or discussing the deployment of Uber's self-driving vehicles in San Francisco, over the course of October, 2016 through December, 2016. Also, any internal emails between California Department of Transportation staff discussing Uber Technologies Inc. or Uber's self-driving vehicle testing in San Francisco. Please also include any attachments to these emails.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. They will be used in the course of reporting for The New York Times.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request, and I ask that this be processed in the "media" fee category. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
