Hello,

Thank you for contacting our office. We received your California Public Records Act request for Informational copies of all American Indian and Alaska Native death certificates held by the San Diego County Clerk's office.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill this request. Our office does not index or track the decedent's race information and are unable to provide death certificates based on this criteria.

If you are interested in requesting informational death certificates for specific individuals, you can request them individually by mail or online. To request by mail, please fill out the attached application and mail it, along with a check or money order for $21.00 per copy to:

San Diego Recorder/County Clerk

Attn: Vital Records

P.O. Box 121750

San Diego, CA 92112

Once we receive the completed application and payment, we will then conduct a thorough search of our index. If a record is found, we will mail out the requested copy. If we cannot find the record, based on the information provided, state law requires that we keep the fee and issue a "Letter of No Record".

Death certificates may also be requested online, through a third party vendor, VitalChek using debt or credit card payment. VitalChek also offers expedited shipping through UPS at an additional fee. The website is www.vitalchek.com<http://www.vitalchek.com> and the phone number is (877) 459-1061.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss further.

Thank you,

Nicole K Barber
