Dear Mr. Guariglia:

This is to acknowledge your Public Records Act request, received June 9, 2015, for "current or historic contracts between any schools in the University of California system and law firm Littler Mendelson P.C." Appropriate UC Office of the President (UCOP) offices are being notified of your request. Records identified as responsive to your request will be reviewed, and made available for your access, in accordance with relevant law and University policy. We are interpreting your request for "historic" contracts to be for contracts between the UCOP Office of General Counsel (OGC) and Littler Mendelson P.C. during the past 6 years. Contracts older than six years are not retained in the OGC database. The estimated date of production is eight weeks, which will vary accordingly due to the nature, complexity, and/or length of the request.

This office can only provide records held by the Office of the President. If you want to request records from individual campuses, those requests will need to be directed to the public records coordinator at each campus. A list of the coordinators for the campuses can be found here: http://www.ucop.edu/general-counsel/legal-resources/information-practices/information-practices-coordinators.html.

Although the requested records have not yet been fully gathered and reviewed, it is possible that the requested material may contain information exempt from disclosure pursuant to the Public Records Act. However, this is not a determination that the requested records are necessarily exempt from disclosure. This office will provide you with a status update after the requested records have been thoroughly reviewed.

For your information, the California Public Records Act allows agencies to make records available "upon payment of fees covering direct costs of duplication." (Government Code Section 6253(b)). The charge is $0.20 per page for copies. Prepayment is required before release of public records. If you prefer, you may inspect the records in person prior to obtaining copies. Inquiries about this PRA request should refer to PRA-15-1374.

Thank you,
UCOP Public Records
