To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

For all state-run email accounts in use by the governor's office and its staff, please provide the following information for all emails sent and received starting January 7, 2019 through January 14, 2019.

1. From address
2. To address
3. bcc addresses
4. cc addresses
5. Time
6. Date

Note: I am not requesting subject lines or the contents of the emails, only the metadata. This should remove the need for any review or redaction.

This operation is rudimentary in most enterprise email systems. If you need my assistance in devising a quick export routine, I am happy to provide it.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ben Welsh

From: Office of the Governor - California

A fix is required to perfect the request.

From: Ben Welsh

I do not understand your reasoning for refusing the release of these records, which contain only metadata. I am not asking for the substance of any communication to be disclosed.

Can we arrange a time to speak about this issue on the telephone?
