RE: Public Records Act Request for Cannabis Safety Testing Documentation

Dear Alex Traverso (and Others to Whom It May Concern):

Pursuant to my rights under the California Public Records Act (Government Code Section 6250 et seq.), I ask to obtain a copy of the following, which I understand to be held by your agency:

(i) certificates of analysis submitted to the state by licensed cannabis testing laboratories for failed sample batches of both cannabis and manufactured cannabis goods.

(ii) all “data packages” prepared and submitted to the state by licensed cannabis testing laboratories for failed sample batches of cannabis and manufactured cannabis goods.

I ask for a determination on this request within 10 days of your receipt of it, and an even prompter reply if you can make that determination without having to review the records in question.

If you determine that some but not all of the information is exempt from disclosure and that you intend to withhold it, I ask that you redact it for the time being and make the rest available as requested.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press (myself), and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
