In November 2014, the chief of the Calexico Police Department said that "police officers purchased around $100,000 worth of high-tech surveillance equipment that they then used to follow council members."
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Purchase orders, contracts, inventories, or other documents relating to the Calexico Police Department's electronic surveillance technology described in the Imperial Valley Press story (http://www.ivpressonline.com/quicknews/calexico-police-chief-alleges-corruption-by-city-council-members-police/article_322929c4-7033-11e4-b5aa-a34582a84030.html) and in stories by other news organizations, such as KPBS (http://www.kpbs.org/news/2015/jan/06/calexico-police-department-under-fire-alleged-crim/).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is not being made for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
