From: Michael Morisy

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to Louisiana Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

2011 and 2012 payroll records for all employees paid in this parish Parish.

For each employee, we'd like to receive the following information:

Name
Unique ID
Position
Department
Regular Wages
Overtime Pay
Other Pay
Benefits
Total Compensation

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at louisianasunshine.org, processed by a representative of the Pelican Institute and is not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not. If these records exist in electronic format, I request that those electronic records be provided (not, for instance, that those electronic records be printed then digitized to create images of the printouts).

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

From: Attorney for the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury

Dear Mr. Walker

I am the Attorney for the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. Your Faxed request for financial information has been turned over to me for response.

We have received similar requests in the past. The policy of the Police Jury has been to furnish the job titles and compensation schedules for the Department Heads, a list of the various classifications of employees and the appropriate pay ranges, and the number of employees in each classification. We have recently adopted pay classification plan which is now in effect describing the ranges for all classified employees of the Police Jury. We do not furnish individual names or individual compensation information, finding in the past that such information can lead to disruption of the work structure of the Jury.

I am having the Human Resources Department prepare such a response to your request. In addition, all overtime pay for all non-exempt employees is calculated at 1.5 times the employee’s regular wage rate. All employees are enrolled in a self insured health program and the state Parochial Employees Retirement System.

I apologize that your request took so long to get to me for response. I will have the complete pay classification plan by Monday and will promptly sent it to you. If you have any questions concerning this email, please feel free to call me at 337-436-0522.

From: General Counsel

Mr. Walker: I am forwarding to you the compilation of Calcasieu Parish Police Jury employee salary/pay information. The code numbers allow one to look to the salary or hourly rate tables and determine the pay of all persons in that job and level. Please acknowledge receipt of this email. I hope this satisfies the Public Records Request you have made.

Allen L. Smith
General Counsel
