From: Brian Waters

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Vermont Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Demographic data for the Burlington Police Department. For each current officer, please be sure to include at least the following fields:
- Name
- Race
- Gender
- Year of birth

If possible, I would appreciate if the information could be provided in a machine-readable format, such as an Excel spreadsheet.

You may recall that I made a similar request in January. I am making this request in order to keep up with turnover and new recruits on the force. (With that in mind, please provide the data set in its entirety, and not simply a list of officers who have joined or departed since January.) I may be making similar requests on a six month to one year basis. If this data is available another way that may save your office some periodic work, such as via the city's open data portal, please do let me know.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Brian Waters

Hello,

I made a public records request with your office last week on 5/28 and have not yet heard back. I understand it has been a busy time for the city attorney's office. However, I just wanted to verify whether the request has in fact been received, and is in processing.

Thank you,
Brian Waters

P.S, I have been directing public records requests to your personal email account, eblackwood@burlingtonvt.gov. Please let me know if there is any person or email address which would be more appropriate for these requests in the future.
