From: Adam Vaccaro

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

A) Any application material submitted to the World Economic Forum (WEF) regarding a driverless or autonomous car testing and policy development system in the city of Boston, which the city announced it was selected for on Sept. 14;

B) Any communication with the WEF or Boston Consulting Group using the keywords "autonomous," "self-driving," or "driverless";

C) Any communication with the state's Department of Public Transportation and/or the Registry of Motor Vehicles using the keywords "autonomous," "self-driving," "driverless," "WEF," "World Economic Forum," and/or "Boston Consulting Group."

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Adam Vaccaro

Hi Adam,

A few clarifying questions pertaining to your request:

Part B - What are the email domains for the WEF and Boston Consulting Group
or are there specific individuals?

Part C - Are there specific people at MassDOT or RMV? If not, what are the
email domains?

Thank you,
Audrey

Thanks Audrey, my mistake for excluding.

B) @weforum.org and @bcg.com

C) @dot.state.ma.us would be great.

Thanks again,

Adam

From: Press Office

Hi Adam,

For Part B, TO/FROM @weforum.org or @bcg.com with the specified keywords
there are 298 results. The cost would be $202.64.

For Part C, TO/FROM @dot.state.ma.us with the specified keywords there are
269 results. The cost would be $182.92.

Using the city's previously established cost of 68 cents per email for
search, review and any redacting allowed under the public records law, the
total cost estimate to complete this request is $385.56. A check made out
to the City of Boston can be dropped off at Room 603 in City Hall, or
mailed to One City Hall Square, Room 603, Boston, MA 02201 at my attention.

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, the formula we use for
the search, segregation, and copying of each requested document is $0.05
per page for photocopy of public records, plus a per hour charge that is a
pro-rated hourly wage of the lowest paid employee who is capable of
performing the task. For the search and segregation of email records, we
use a cost of $0.68 per email (including attachments), which is a combined
average hourly rate of $40.00 per hour for staff attorneys and technical
professionals.

Thank you,
Audrey

Hi Audrey --

Thanks for the update. Would you have any suggestions to pare this down a bit from the search terms perspective? And is there any way you can trim down at all on the per-page costs?

Thanks again,
Adam

From: Adam Vaccaro

Would it cut down on things at all if we limited the emails from both sides to include only senders or recipients who are: Christopher Osgood, Kris Carter, or Gina Fiandaca?

Thanks.
Adam

Audrey --

Do you have any kind of an invoicing system for this?
