Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

Pursuant to the state’s public records law, I am requesting access to and copies of records from your agency as part of our continuing coverage of gun violence and policing. The date range for this request is January 1, 2010 to the present:

It is our understanding that law enforcement agencies keep detailed records about homicides. I am therefore requesting records containing the following information for each homicide recorded by your department between Jan. 1, 2010 and present:

-- The police report number and/or incident number for the homicide.
-- The date and time of incident
-- The location of the incident
-- The weapon used
-- Age, race, gender of the victim
-- Age, race, gender of the suspect (if applicable.)
-- The status of the case

If possible, please provide the information electronically in the form of a spreadsheet where each row represents one case.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you informed me of the total charges before completing my request. We request that if you send an invoice, you make it out to The Trace.

I would prefer the requested information be sent via an e-mail attachment if available. If standard mail must be used, we ask that you send the request to the following address:

received, and it may take longer than ten days to be fulfilled. If your
request requires a substantial amount of research, reviewing and redacting,
fulfilling the request will take a significant amount of time. Please plan
