Dear Industrial Development Authority of Boston,

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all documents that refer to eminent domain and/or the acquisition of non-government land and the Olympics. This includes but is not limited to communication, such as emails, letters, memos, faxes, calendar items and meeting notes.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of news articles published by the New England Center for Investigative Reporting and its television, print and radio partners. The data will be processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your commitment to an open and transparent government process. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Brooke Williams

I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your request of June 5 seeking
records under the Massachusetts Public Records Law. Relevant Boston
Redevelopment Authority (BRA) staff will research and review their files on
the subject you referenced. Please note that state law permits a charge of
20 cents per photo-copied page and 50 cents per laser-printed page. A fee
may also be charged for staff time dedicated to the search for, review of,
and production of documents. Given the fact that scarce public resources
are dedicated by he BRA to public records request responses, it is the
general policy of the BRA to require payment of these charges.

I will contact you when costs identified with your request can be
estimated. At that time, should you decide to move forward with your
request, the documents will be produced and provided to you upon receipt of
the appropriate payment.
