From: Kate Chappell
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the state Freedom of Information Act, G.L.M. c.4, €7, clause 26th, I hereby request the following records:
Anything related to how the Mayor's office decided to grant $900,000 in funding for the Bay State Banner in July of 2009
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Kate Chappell

Called to follow up on no response. Spoke with Katie in Press Office, who promised someone would return call within a day or two.

Received a follow up phone call from Christopher Lowe, with the Mayor's Office. He apologized for delay, and said the request was forwarded on to the Boston Redevelopment Authority, care of Susan Ellsberee (office line 617-918-4426), director of communications for BRA.

From: Cohen, Phil
Dear KateChappell & Tom Nash,
It is my understanding that, on two separate occasions, Muckrock has requested "anything related to how the Mayor's office decided to grant $900,000 in funding for the Bay State Banner in July of 2009." and "a copy of the Boston's Boston Redevelopment Authority annual salaries, including benefits, by position, for the year 2012."
I understand that the BRA has responded that "documents are available for you to view at the BRA offices, 9th Floor, Boston City Hall" but that you have not yet viewed any of these documents. I am here to guide you through the FOI request process. What can we do to expedite and complete your request?
