From: Anna Geary-Meyer

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

Any records or research on Boston's demographics by neighborhood as they pertain to data from the 2000 census. The following link provides lists compiled from the 2010 census, and we would like to compare that to older information.

http://www.bostonredevelopmentauthority.org/research-maps/research-publications/neighborhoods

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Anna Geary-Meyer

Apologies for CCing all three of you. I wasn't sure exactly where to send
this. I've checked the website and did find information from 2000
(specifically on Chinatown) but I doubt this is all the information we have
that matches the criteria Anna specified. For public records we are not
required to create any documents that do not already exist but we are
suppose to send everything we have that matches the criteria. Is there any
way to be sure we are sending Anna everything we have on 2000 census data
by neighborhood?

From: Phil Cohen

Anna,

My apologies for misspelling your name on my original reply.

From: Phil Cohen

Anna,

All the documents you were looking for are uploaded to our website. Since
these are digital records and are already public ,there is no fee
associated with collaborating or printing this request. Please feel free to
reach out if you have any additional questions.

Please note that we did not without neighborhood data from 2000 but that in
fact we do not have the specific information you requested in this regard.
Therefore we are not submitting any explanation for withholding documents.

Hi Phil,

We're happy to help. These reports are all on our website. I've included
links to each of them below. However, in 2000, the data were only analyzed
by planning district. We only started analyzing data by neighborhood after
the 2010 Census. So if she'd like to do an apples to apples comparison of
the geographies between 2000 and 2010, she should also review the 2010
planning district reports.

For her convenience, I've included links to each of the 2000 and 2010
Census reports by planning district. All of these documents can be
found in this
section of our website
<http://www.bostonredevelopmentauthority.org/research-maps/research-publications/other>.
I've also included links to the other reports on our website that discuss
