Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Copies of all reports, lists, or databases detailing the number and/or status of lawsuits brought against the Blacksburg police department since 2016. This should include requests for, or documentation of, funds used to cover settlement agreements, court costs, or other expenses related to lawsuits.
This request should be construed to include any document submitted to, compiled by, or in any way maintained by the department that lists lawsuits brought against the Blacksburg police department between 2016-2020. If a document exists that contains the requested information for some, but not all of the above mentioned years, please include that/those document(s).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

As to your two FOIA requests dated June 7, 2020:
Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Copies of all reports, lists, or databases detailing the number and/or status of lawsuits brought against the Blacksburg police department since 2016. This should include requests for, or documentation of, funds used to cover settlement agreements, court costs, or other expenses related to lawsuits.
This request should be construed to include any document submitted to, compiled by, or in any way maintained by the department that lists lawsuits brought against the Blacksburg police department between 2016-2020. If a document exists that contains the requested information for some, but not all of the above mentioned years, please include that/those document(s).
There have been no lawsuits filed against the Blacksburg Police Department in that time period. Nor does the department have the type of lists you describe.
And,
Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
A copy of the most recent collective bargaining agreement/collective agreement between this department and the local police union/fraternal order/benevolent association, or other similar organization.
Public sector bargaining is not currently permitted in Virginia, so there is no collective bargaining agreement or union contract in place governing the employment of Blacksburg police officers.
