From: Laurah Norton

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Seeking all records relating to or concerning the unidentified black female found in 1977 in Bibb County, GA, NAMUS NamUs #UP2126 Female, Uncertain age.
Per NAMUS, "Skeletal remains found in wooded area off Riverside Drive, one mile north of Arkwright Road, Macon GA."

I am co-creator, researcher, and writer of The Fall Line podcast of Exactly Right Media, an investigative project that raises awareness of the cold cases of people who’ve historically been marginalized. We are working with or have worked with a variety of law enforcement agencies, including APD, Dekalb Medical Examiner, and a GBI regional office to bring attention to cold cases.
Our goal is to make our audience (5 million and counting) aware of these cases and to boost public interest in cold cases, with the hopes of providing law enforcement with new tips and/or information in cases. We respectfully request incident reports and any other files that may be released.
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me so that we may pay promptly. This information is being gathered for media reporting purposes.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Attached is a copy of the initial incident case report. The only record available is the initial case report; this is still an open case.

According to O.C.G.A. 50-18-72(a) (4), the other requested records are exempt. Records of law enforcement, prosecution, or regulatory agencies in any pending investigation or prosecution of criminal or unlawful activity, other than initial police arrest reports and initial incident reports so long as the investigation or prosecution is “no longer deemed to be pending”.

Please feel free to contact me at (478) 803-2393, or by email at bso<mailto:bso>openrecords@maconbibb.us if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Kristie Brown
