From: George LeVines

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, ยง10, I hereby request the following records:

Any records, communications, or files, from 1970 to the date that this request is processed, about or mentioning:

- Le Grand David Magic Show (which ran between February 20, 1977 to Spring of 2012 at the Cabot Street Cinema Theatre and Larcom Theatre both in Beverly, MA)
- Cesareo Pelaez (a.k.a. Marco the Magi -- DECEASED: October 16, 1932 - March 24, 2012)
- David Bull (a.k.a. Le Grand David)

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

George LeVines

The Beverly Police Records Division will look into this matter. The fees will not be waived and you will receive a request for payment prior to the work being completed as you have requested.

To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to follow up on the following Freedom of Information request, copied below, and originally submitted on Aug. 12, 2014. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response, or if further clarification is needed.

Thank you for your help.

As I stated in a previous email, please contact our records bureau at 978-605-2506 to set up a payment

From: George LeVines

The text of your previous email read:

"The Beverly Police Records Division will look into this matter. The fees will not be waived and you will receive a request for payment prior to the work being completed as you have requested."

I have not received a request for payment or any notice regarding the need to contact the records department.

I would be more than happy to contact the records bureau but would prefer to conduct this matter via e-mail as to preserve a record of communications.

Thank you,

George

I have left a message with the records department.

For future reference, should I be sending all public records requests to the records department. My decision to send the request to your office was based on a conversation that I had with the records department in which it was stated that the chief's office would have to handle the request anyway. Maybe I misinterpreted something.

Also does the records department not have a general email address?

Please do not hesitate to call for any clarification 617 942 1354.

Thank you,

George

I forwarded the request to them. The Police Station is under construction and the records clerks have been in and out. I will speak to them myself when I get back to the station.

I spoke to records. They are working on your request. There was a question on some medical information that will have to be redacted
