Pursuant to the Louisiana Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

All receipts, paystubs, copies of checks, and all other records of financial transactions between the GEO Group and the Town of Basile, as well as all equivalent records related to financial transactions between LCS Corrections Services and the Town of Basile. According to a local news article: "Obviously, Mayor Denette is disappointed in the company’s decision to close the facility since this will mean a loss of tax money and other spending by the prison and its employees here in the town limits in addition to a loss of monthly payments that the town was receiving per inmate." Thank you so much for your message. I'm hoping you can clarify this response and your response to another request I've submitted under the Louisiana Public Records Law regarding contracts between the Town of Basile and two separate companies: Geo Group and LCS Corrections.

While I am happy to consider the copy fees that may ultimately be associated with my request, I am not convinced of the applicability of a fee at this time. Could you please provide an estimate for the number of pages that would need to be copied in order to provide all records responsive to this request? According to the Louisiana Public Records Law, "[N]o fee shall be charged for examination or review to determine if a record is subject to disclosure, except as may be determined by a court of competent jurisdiction."
