Chief,

I'm afraid I'll be unable to speak by phone for most of the day today, but I'll be on email. Is there anything I can clarify by email?

-Shawn

From: Shawn Musgrave

Chief,

To be clear, I have received only your response that fees must be paid for documents. You have not provided any corresponding cost estimate, nor any request for additional detail to suggest that my initial request language was unclear as submitted. A number of other police departments fulfilled an identical request without any issue or delay.

Please advise.

Respectfully,
Shawn

All arrests records in the last 24 hours with narratives is your request?

Chief,

To be clear, I have two requests open with your department.

The first one is a request submitted on June 9, 2014 for "All arrest records, including narrative, for the past 24 hours from the time this request is received." Chief LaCross answered with a confusing response in early July, and then agreed to send documents on July 17. No such documents have been received for this request, despite a number of followups.

The second request was sent on July 30 for:

"A copy of the arrest log for the past 24 hours, to include the following information at minimum:

1) Full name of the arrested adult;
2) Home address of the arrested adult, unless doing so would identify a crime victim;
3) Year of birth of the arrested adult;
4) Charge or charges;
5) Date of the arrest;
6) Time of the arrest;
7) Gender of the arrested adult;
8) Race of the arrested adult;
9) Name of the arresting officer unless doing so would identify an undercover officer. R.I. Gen. Laws ยง 38-2-3.2. "

Please confirm whether the document(s) for the earlier APRA request submitted in June have been prepared and the date this request is to be completed.

Regarding the arrest log, please include the above documents for the past 24 hours from which the July 30 request was received.

Please let me know if the above is unclear.

Best,
Shawn
