To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act ("APRA"), I hereby request the following records:

Written procedures for access to the agency’s public records, including any records request forms required or suggested by the agency.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Shawn Musgrave

Hello Ms. Ferrucci,

Thank you so much for your help. I'm wondering: since the Finance Department forwarded this request to you, should future public records requests for the Finance Department be directed to you?

Also, I see that you have included the necessary form for Barrington Police Department records requests. Separate but seemingly identical requests were submitted to the Office of the Town Clerk and the Police Department. Did the PD forward their request to you as well?

Thank you for clarifying.

From: Carol Ferrucci

Mr. Musgrave:

"Request for Records Under the Access to Public Records Act" Form available at the Police Department for police records or the Town Manager's Office for all other departments.

Thank you,

Hello Ms. Ferrucci,

Thank you again for including the necessary forms. However, it is still unclear how one should proceed when requesting records from the Finance Department in particular and if the Police Department forwarded the request I sent to them to you for handling as well.

Should requests specifically intended for the Finance Department be directed to the Town Manager?

Was the request that was submitted to the Police Department forwarded to your office? I wonder, because if it was not, I will need to follow up with them directly.

Thanks again!

From: Carol Ferrucci

Mr. Musgrave:

Please be advised that all responses, whether requested from a particular department or not, will be sent through the Town Manager's office.

You may request from a particular department or from the Town Manager's Office. In either case, the Town Manager's office will send you the response.

The Police Department handles their own requests.
