Pursuant to the Alaska Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Records concerning the death of Christopher McCandless, found off the Stampede Trail on the border of Denali National Park. This includes investigatory files, interviews, photos, and any other documents that were involved in his bodies' discovery and removal from the back country, and the investigation into how he got there and how he died.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

To whom it may concern,
We are processing your request for a copy of our death investigation in relation to Christopher McCandless (92-61679). As part of your request you have requested a copy of photos taken.
The photographs for this investigation are in photo negative form and we will have to have them processed to provide to you. I am estimating the expense to be approximately $120 to have them developed and placed on a compact disk.
Because this expense is outside of our normal operating costs, it will be your responsibility to pay the actual cost. As such, I need confirmation that you are willing to pay the costs, prior to taking the negatives for development.
