Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Recent social media posts have shown an Alameda County Sheriff's department officer playing copyrighted music when filmed by a citizen: https://www.pleasantonweekly.com/news/2021/07/04/sheriffs-sergeant-plays-copyrighted-music-to-keep-activists-from-uploading-video-to-youtube
Therefore, I request the following records:
- Any body camera, surveillance camera, or audio footage of the above incidents
- Any emails, memos, documents, messages, about or that mention the above incidents or any other similar incidents the department is aware of
- Any documents, emails, text messages, presentations, trainings, or other recordings about, mentioning, pertaining to, or related to the playing of copyrighted materials while being filmed
- Any documents, presentations, trainings, or guidance about what police officers should do if they are being filmed or recorded by the public
These will be used in the course of reporting for Motherboard, VICE Media's science and tech website.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mr. Koebler,
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 6253(c), we write in response to the inquiry that you made to the Alameda County Social Services Agency under the California Public Records Act, which was received by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office on, August 27, 2021. We note that the requests are limited only to records in our custody and control.
Regarding your request, body-worn camera footage or audio footage that ACSO may have is exempt from disclosure pursuant to Cal. Gov. Code §§ 6254(f) and 6255. You will have to contact the state of California for any surveillance footage at the courthouse. We are not the custodian of cameras mounted in or around the courthouse.
Attached you will find responsive documents regarding your request. Some email communications have been redacted pursuant Cal. Gov. Code §§ 6254(f) and 6255.
