Good morning,

I am responding to this request received by our Alamance-Burlington School
System (ABSS) website email.

ABSS is in a unique position. I was the Public Information Officer for ABSS
for more than 16 years until July 1, 2022 when I retired. The public
information officer that took my place left at the end of March, 2024, and
would have been the individual to receive this public records request when
it was originally sent by your organization. I do not know whether or not
he completed the request. I am currently serving as an interim until a new
PIO is hired.

The information that I have is as follows:
During my tenure as PIO, I am unaware of any book challenges made after
January 1, 2021 until July 1, 2022. I do not have any information after
July 1, 2022 until Monday, April 8, 2024 which was my first day back on the
job as interim Public Information Officer for ABSS. Additionally, there is
an interim superintendent who started mid-March, 2024 after the prior
superintendent left his position. Currently there are no challenges to
books in ABSS libraries.

Here is the ABSS Board of Education policy regarding the topic you are
referencing:

Your acknowledgement of receipt of this response would be appreciated.
Thank you.
